It is going to be a gorgeous weekend and as a gardener I am so looking forward to spending the time outside. Covid has forced us to spend way too much time inside often isolated. I am a highs school art teacher by teacher who is currently teaching online...again. As an art and pottery teacher this requires some creative 'pivoting' in order to get supplies and continue to engage students. We are in the last 6 weeks of a very unusual year and all involved at hit the proverbial wall. I have not had my daughters, their partners and grandbabies all at my house since November. The warmer weather allows us to safely meet outdoors. Hopefully this third wave flattens, the vaccines get us closer to herd immunity and life slowly returns to whatever your normal is. Mine is having my family over and getting many grand baby hugs and kisses. Though giving my grandson kisses over FaceTime has become a giggle fest.
My studio has been my refuge a sanctuary during this past year, this has given me the opportunity to move my practice forward tremendously. I have structured my designs and given them dresign names, which are family names. In April I joined the Bountiful Farmers Market for two months and I have three weekends left in May. This summer I will be at the 124 St Grand Market on June 20, July 11 and August 22. This will be my first time at an outdoor market and I am exicted for this new experience. I am trying a variety of different markets to see which is the best fit not only for me, my time schedule and of course my pottery. As a teacher taking the time off to participate in four day markets is very prohibitive, weekend markets are a better fit. However, doing a market every Saturday can be exhausting. What would be perfect would be being at a market for two Saturdays each month, this seems to be the impossible dream.
This Saturday at the Bountiful Farmers market all of my mugs are 15% off and nect weekend which is the long weekend all planters will be 15% off. It will be a great weekend to be outside but maybe include a quick market trip, there are great produce, food and of course craft vendors. Hoper to see you there!
